Ask the experts: Part Three

In part three of ‘Ask the Experts’, we’re talking about your style options. What colors of tuxedos, vests and ties are available? Do we have to rent shoes?

Q: What colors of suits and tuxedos does DuBois carry?

A: DuBois Formalwear has twelve different coat and pant colors available! Our grey tones range from very light grey to dark charcoal, and we have several styles available in classic black! If you're looking for a traditional navy we have you covered, but our more vibrant French Blue is worth a look as well. Other colors available include white, tan, and burgundy! Our sales associates will show you the unique features of each style and help you to choose the best formalwear for your wedding, prom, or event. You can see all of our tuxedo and suit styles online, and at any of our locations.

FYI: We’ll walk you through the process of choosing the suits first, then guide you in the right direction for your shirts, shoes, and accessories (such as vests, ties, and pocket squares). Many of our coats and trousers are available in slim and ultra-slim fit for a modern, stylish look.

Q. Can you match our bridesmaid’s dresses?

A:  Yes, we certainly can! DuBois carries hundreds of vest and tie color combinations in a variety of patterns. We can match (or coordinate with) almost any gown color! Whether your bridesmaids dresses come from David's Bridal, an online retailer, or a local dress store, we have options for you.  Bring in your swatch and we will find the perfect color for your wedding party!

FYI: Although it's common, you don’t have to match to your men’s formalwear to your bridesmaid gowns Choose to keep things simple with neutral colors, or make use of the vests, ties, and suspenders that match our tuxedos and suits! You can bring in some color with your boutonnieres or pocket squares if you'd like a little pop.

Q: Do we have to rent shoes with our suit or tux rental?

A: At DuBois, rental shoes are included with your complete suit or tuxedo rental for no additional charge. Shoes are available in several styles and colors to compliment your tux or suit. If you feel it’s important that your wedding party match, then it’s generally a good idea to rent the same style for your attendants.

FYI: Formal patent leather shoes add the final touch to a traditional tuxedo! Glossy black shoes are available with a square or round toe. For a more subtle finish, choose a matte brown or black.

Q: Can I wear both a pocket square and a boutonniere?

A: Yes, it's perfectly acceptable and very common to wear both a pocket square and a boutonniere. Traditionally, the tie and pocket square will match in color. The exception to this is when, for example, a black tux is worn with a black tie. In this case, a white or ivory pocket square would be recommended for contrast. See more examples in our stores!

FYI: Pocket squares are also referred to as hankies. At DuBois, we include pocket squares with your complete suit or tuxedo rental for no additional charge and they are available in a variety of styles to match your vests, ties, or wedding color palette.
